Quality Education in a Caring Environment

Melanie Warnes, Headteacher of Castle School ThornburyThank you for your interest in The Castle School. I hope you find this web site informative and useful.

The Castle School is a thriving and successful school providing a high standard of education for all children within a caring learning environment. We are proud of our school, where high standards of work, behaviour and achievement are the norm.

We believe that young people have the right to a safe, happy, varied and challenging learning experience. Within this context, commitment, self responsibility, honesty and respect are some of the personal qualities which we value from all members of our school community and which are essential to success in later life.

We aim to ensure that all our students have a full range of opportunities to develop their individual talents and aptitudes, both within and beyond the classroom. Life at The Castle School is not just about success in the classroom; there is a strong sense of community life developed through a rich programme of extra curricular opportunities. The school is a vibrant, balanced community that equips students with the best possible education for the future.

We are especially concerned with the needs of students as individual learners irrespective of their abilities. Every individual matters and all children have abilities which must be realised. Our students are motivated and challenged by highly qualified and committed staff. The emphasis placed on learning both as an independent individual and as a member of a group is a strong feature of the school and is a continuation of students experience at primary school. The academic standards achieved by our students in external examinations are very high and represent a tradition which we are proud to maintain.

We will do everything in our power to ensure that students enjoy a happy and successful career at The Castle School.  I am always happy to meet with parents. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any questions left unanswered.
